The only reason I see for the assassination of Dr Farooq Khan is his recent appointment as VC Swat Univeristy. Swat is very sensitive for the military. They do not want any opioniated person to spread his views among Swatis on academic level unless he submits to them like Afzal Khan lala. He could be very dangerous to the Punjabi establishment and - as their permanent policy- to get rid of all those Pashtuns and Baloch who could be potentially dangerous to their hegemony, he was also eliminated from the scene. All the beacons of lights and rebellion against the military empire of autocratically controlled Pakistan are on the hit list of the oppressors. They have successfully executed their agenda in FATA and the locals know this because the military kill all those Masharan who refuse to fight against the puppet and fake Talibans in FATA and also got rid of all those who are against the presence of foreign terrorists in FATA.
The Pakhtun leadership and intelligentsia irrespective of their religious and even political affiliation nation is on the target. I was happy to see that PMAP and Aman Tehreek [headed by Idrees Kamal] gave sensible statements against the targeted killing of Pakhtun intelligentsia and men of substance. This means that atleast these two platforms are open minded and have a vision of Pashtun as a nation and consider the political deprivation of Pashtun as the source of ills, instead of looking things in a narrower perspective.
